Deterministic least squares !ltering

چکیده

A deterministic interpretation of the Kalman !ltering formulas is given, using the principle of least squares estimation. The observed signal and the to-be-estimated signal are modeled as being generated as outputs of a !nite-dimensional linear system driven by an input disturbance. Postulating that the observed signal is generated by the input disturbance that has minimal least squares norm leads to a method of computing an estimate of the to-be-estimated output. The derivation of the resulting !lter is carried out in a completely self-contained way. The analogous approach to least squares control is also discussed. c © 2003 Elsevier B.V. We study the relation between the solutions of two minimization problems with inde nite quadratic forms We show that a complete link between both solutions can be established by invoking a fundamental set of inertia conditions While these inertia conditions are automatically satis ed in a standard Hilbert space setting which is the case of classical least squares problems in both the determinis...

Adaptive RLS filtering under the cyclo-stationary regime

We present a methodology for adaptive ltering and system identi cation under the cyclostationary regime. Our technique is based on a deterministic periodic least-squares criterion, and gives rise to adaptive periodic recursive-least-squares (P-RLS) algorithms. Furthermore, we show that every adaptive RLS algorithm has a P-RLS counterpart, which has exactly the same architecture and the same per...

Using orthogonal least squares identification for adaptive nonlinear filtering of GSM signals

The miniaturization of GSM handsets creates nonlinear acoustical echoes between the microphone and the loudspeaker when signal level is high. Nonlinear adaptive ltering can tackle this problem but the computational complexity has to be reduced by restricting the number of coe cients introduced by nonlinear models. This paper compares performances of di erent nonlinear models. In a rst training ...
